Learning Spirituality from Saints, beginning spiritual practice, and spreading Spirituality before being blessed with a Guru

A. Dr Athavale studying Spirituality under the guidance of more than 25 Saints : Dr Athavale, an internationally renowned Hypnotherapist, observed that some mental patients who did not improve with Hypnotherapy showed remarkable recovery after practicing spiritual methods prescribed by Saints, such as spiritual practices and rituals like Narayan-Nagbali and Tripindi Shraddha. This led Him to realise that not all mental disorders stemmed solely from personality defects and ego but also had spiritual causes such as destiny and distress caused by negative energies. From 1983 to 1987, He studied Spirituality under more than 25 spiritually evolved Saints. Upon recognising the superiority of spiritual science, He began His own spiritual practice.

1. Expressing gratitude at the feet of Saints for teaching Spirituality : “Most Saints I met taught me fundamental aspects of Spirituality in various ways. This knowledge helped me in writing Spiritual Texts. Additionally, the spiritual remedies taught by some Saints were useful in alleviating distress caused by negative energies to seekers. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all these Saints.” – Dr Jayant Athavale

B. Dr Jayant Athavale’s effort to spread Spirituality before being blessed with a Guru : After realising that spiritual science is a higher discipline than medical science and provides supreme Bliss in life,
Dr Jayant Athavale began spreading spiritual knowledge.

1. Telling patients about spiritual practice : Following the principle that we must share with others whatever knowledge we have, Dr Jayant Athavale started explaining the significance of spiritual science to patients who came to Him for treatment of mental illnesses and encouraged them to perform spiritual practice.

2. Lectures : Dr Jayant Athavale also began presenting the topic ‘Hypnotherapy and Spiritual Science’ in lectures organised for doctors.

3. Study sessions : On 17th and 18th May 1986 (the third Saturday and Sunday of May), Dr Jayant Athavale conducted His first study session on Spirituality. This event was organised by the Indian Medical Hypnotherapy and Research Institute.

Subsequently, from 1986 to 1990, spiritual study sessions were regularly held on the third Saturday and Sunday of February, May, and September each year at Dr Jayant Athavale’s Hypnotherapy Centre, Mumbai.

Bhav : ‘Where there is bhav (Spiritual emotion), there is God’. It is not that every individual will have similar experiences.

The present generation which wastes its time watching films, going to pubs, parties, etc. can learn a lot from Dr Athavale !
