US Think Tank claims

Beijing, China – The Chinese Communist Party’s purpose of creating a strong army is to keep power in their hands. The army is not meant to fight external enemy. Chinese political party in power takes the help of research for the army to remain in power, instead of keeping it ready for war. In such a situation Chinese army may face difficulties on the battlefield. This is a report presented by US Think Tank, ‘Rand Corp’. Some experts do not agree with the findings of the report. They say that Xi Jinping has made his highest military goal clear, which is to take control of Taiwan, and the army is ready for that.
Timothy Heath the author of the report argues,
1. Chinese army is focused on Xi Jinping’s regime to continue. The modernisation of the army is only to increase fascination and trust for CCP in power.
2. During the army training, 40% time is given to political issues, this time could be utilised to learn warfare. Since it is not so, the readiness of the army for modern warfare is questionable. The army units are led by political figures who lay more emphasis on being loyal to CCP rather than expertise in war strategies.
3. There is very little chance of conventional war between the US and China. The policy makers in Pentagon (US department of defence) should take a note of large variety of threats China can pose and think beyond missiles and bombs.
4. It is a historical fact that the army fails to use modern weapons effectively at the time of war. Ukraine failed to win despite good army with modern weaponry. So, it is doubtful that Chinese army can make use of modern weapons successfully.
Corruption within Chinese army
Chinese army is facing shortage of recruits and problem of corruption. A recent report reveals that due to campaign against corruption within the army and at the senior levels in politics, Xi Jinping’s personal security is in trouble, and it has also led to the inefficiency in the army’s operational capabilities.
Editorial PerspectiveThough we can take US claim with a pinch of salt, there is a proof that India had taught a lesson to China in 1967 and in 2022 in the Galwan conflict. Indian army knows that it is not very difficult to defeat the Chinese army. |
