
Belagavi, Karnataka – Former Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party MLA from Ponda, Goa and former Deputy Superintendent of Police of Goa Lavoo Mamledar (aged 68) passed away on the afternoon of February 15.

According to the police, former Goa MLA Lavoo Mamledar had alighted at Srinivas Lodge in Khadebazar area of Belgaum. While he was taking his car in the afternoon, he was hit by a rickshaw. This led to a heated argument between Mamledar and the rickshaw driver. At this time, the rickshaw driver hit Mamledar hard on the forehead and also hit him on the earlobe. After that, the people gathered there pushed the two aside.

While recovering from the attack by the rickshaw driver, Lavoo Mamledar suffered a severe heart attack while going to the lodge and collapsed near the reception area there. Seeing this, the manager of the lodge immediately informed the Market police. The Market police reached the spot and admitted Mamledar to the Belgaum District Hospital. After being examined by modern doctors there, he was declared dead. Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled visited the district hospital. The police have arrested the suspected rickshaw puller Mujahid Shakeel Jamadar (28 years old) and a case of murder has been registered against him. Lavoo Mamledar is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Lavoo Mamledar was a well-wisher of Sanatan Sanstha from the beginning. He always supported the work of Sanatan Sanstha. His wife Shanti Mamledar practices sadhana under the guidance of Sanatan. Political career of Lavoo Mamledar
He was elected from the Ponda constituency in the Goa elections held on 3 March 2012. Before that, he had taken voluntary retirement from the police service as a Deputy Superintendent. Before joining the police service, he worked as a teacher at Almeida High School in Ponda. In the year 2012, he was the president of the Goa Handicrafts Corporation for some time. After that, he was defeated in the 2017 assembly elections.
