Fisheries and Ports Development Minister Nitesh Rane demands in a letter to Education Minister Dada Bhuse

Mumbai – The Class 12th and Class 10th exams will begin from February 11th and February 21st respectively. In that context, Fisheries and Ports Development Minister Nitesh Rane has requested Education Minister Dada Bhuse not to allow students to enter the examination centre wearing a burqa.
The letter reads,
1. It has been instructed by the Government that the candidates for class 10th and 12th exams should be allowed to take the exam wearing a burqa, and if necessary, female Police officers or teaching staff should be appointed for verification during the exam.
2. If candidates are allowed to enter the examination centre wearing a burqa, it is not possible to verify whether a candidate using an electronic device to take the examination. If any objection arises in an emergency, it will create social as well as law and order issues and many students will have to suffer.
3. Appropriate orders should be issued to all concerned at your level to take immediate action to deny entry to the examination centre to candidates wearing burqa.
