Agra (Uttar Pradesh) – The hearing on a petition demanding permission for performing Jalabhishek, Dugdhabhishek, and worship during major Hindu festivals at Tejomahalay (Taj Mahal) has been postponed. The defendants, including the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and representatives of the Muslim community, sought additional time from the Court, which led to the postponement of the hearing. The next hearing is now scheduled for March 6th.
1. The petitioner has alleged that the defendants are deliberately delaying the case by repeatedly requesting extensions. The petitioner claims that while the defendants lack substantial evidence, they have presented documented proof asserting that the Taj Mahal is a Shiva temple known as ‘Tejomahalaya.’
2. On July 23rd, 2024, Ajay Tomar, State president of the Yogi Yuva Brigade, filed the petition through advocates in Agra Court. The petitioner argued that the Taj Mahal was originally a temple dedicated to Deity Shiva, demolished and altered by Mughal invaders. The petition demands permission for Jalabhishek, Dugdhabhishek, and worship at Tejomahalaya during the holy month of Shravan.
3. The hearing, initially scheduled for January 20th, was deferred due to the arguments presented by the defendants.
4. Petitioner Ajay Tomar stated that the defendants have sought time from the Court three times so far, wasting judicial time and prolonging the case.
5. Ajay Tomar also announced that a campaign for the liberation of Tejomahalaya will be launched on January 26th during the Prayagraj Maha Kumbha. Letters of support from prominent Saints and Mahamandaleshwars of various Akhadas, including the Juna Akhada, Nirvani Akhada, and Niranjani Akhada, will be collected to accelerate the Tejomahalaya movement.
