Donation box looted at gunpoint
Chandrapur, Maharashtra – A daring robbery occurred at the renowned Shri Tirupati Balaji Temple on Datala Road in Chandrapur on the night of 11th January around 1 a.m. Seven armed robbers tied up the temple’s security guard, held him at gunpoint, and locked him in a room. They then broke open the donation box and fled with lakhs of rupees. The incident was reported to the police on the morning of 12th January.
Upon entering the temple, the robbers covered the CCTV cameras with cloth, ensuring that none of them were captured on video. They also stole ₹3,000 from the guard and his mobile phone to prevent him from contacting anyone.
The Tirupati Balaji Temple is located along the Irai River on Datala Road. Late at night on 11th January, a man entered the temple, thoroughly inspected the premises, including the sanctum sanctorum, and then left.
At around 1 a.m., seven armed robbers entered the temple. After breaking open the donation box, they attempted to break the locks of the doors of the sanctum containing the idol of Tirupati Balaji and the adjoining temple. However, the locks did not break, and the robbers fled the scene.
