Prayagraj Mahakumbh Festival 2025
Prayagraj – In preparation for the Mahakumbh Festival starting 13thJanuary, thousands of Saints and Sages from Shri Panchadashanaam Juna Akhada entered the city on 14thDecember in a grand procession (Peshwai) and subsequently proceeded to their Akhada. The event saw the presence of thousands of monks, saints, Mahants, and devotees associated with the Akhada and its affiliated temples and monasteries. The procession prominently featured Naga Sadhus.
On the occasion of Shri Datta Jayanti, the Juna Akhada carried the holy Padukas of Shri Dattatreya through the Sangam route to mark their entry into the city. The procession included over 100 decorated chariots, with the Naga Sadhus leading at the front, carrying the Akhada’s insignia and large flags. At the forefront was the peacock chariot of Shri Swami Avadheshanand Giriji Maharaj, the Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of the Shri Panchadashanaam Juna Akhada.
It was followed by chariots carrying Mahants, Mahamandaleshwars, and other saints. Upon reaching the Juna Akhada near Triveni Marg, Swami Avadheshanand Giriji Maharaj offered his respects at the Samadhi of Siddha Samadhi Baba Shivachetan Puriji Maharaj. The procession, accompanied by traditional instruments and the sound of drums, ceremoniously entered the city and the Akhada premises. The Naga Sadhus displayed swords and other weapons during the event. Many female ascetics (Sadhvis) associated with various Akhadas were present ahead of the main chariot. The Police and administrative authorities honoured Swami Avadheshanand Giriji Maharaj during the procession. Flower showers were arranged at various points along the route, adding to the grandeur of the occasion
