Mumbai – The Railway Board had earlier issued a notice to demolish the 80-year-old Shri Hanuman Temple in Dadar. However, the Railways have now put the notice on hold. Following the notice, Uddhav Thackeray, leader of the Shivsena (UBT), remarked during a press conference, “The Government says ‘Ek hai to safe hai’, but even the temple here isn’t safe.” Subsequently, Aaditya Thackeray, Chief of the Yuva Sena (UBT), had announced a Maha Aarti at the Hanuman Temple on 14th December, but the stay was issued before this event.

BJP MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha provided updates on this development, stating, “Daily prayers and Aarti will continue at Shri Hanuman Temple.”

Avoid politicising religious matters : BJP MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha

Leaders from the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal were in touch with the Union Government regarding this temple issue. Discussions were held with the Union Railway Minister, leading to the stay on the demolition notice.

Lodha further said, “Even after the stay, is it necessary to do Aarti here ? Religious matters should not be given a political angle. The temple will remain untouched, exactly where it is. No one will demolish any old temple. Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal are fully capable of protecting all temples.”

Shiv Sainiks raise slogans against Kirit Somaiya

Shiv Sainiks of the Thackeray group and BJP’s Kirit Somaiya came face to face in the premises of Hanuman temple in Dadar. After that, there was a big commotion. Shiv Sainiks of the Thackeray group became aggressive and shouted slogans against Somaiya. The Police intervened and took Kirit Somaiya away. Kirit Somaiya had come there for darshan. At this time, a large number of Shiv Sainiks were present around the temple.

“With the municipal elections approaching, the officials of the Thackeray group have taken up the cause of Hindutva. Those who recited Hanuman Chalisa were put in jail by these same people and now they have to go to the feet of Hanuman,” said Somaiya.
