Waqf Board defeated badly in Karnataka

Gadag (Karnataka) – The Waqf Board, which arbitrarily claimed properties in Karnataka, suffered a major setback. After a long battle, the farmers of Gadag District got back the ownership rights of their land through the court.
In March 2019, the Waqf Board claimed the lands of 315 farmers in Gadag District of the state. A notice was sent to the farmers by the Waqf Board that the land on which they were living and cultivating belonged to the Waqf Board and the farmers had illegally gained control over it.
As soon as the notice was received, the farmers began to fear imagining how can the land which their forefathers cultivated become the property of the Waqf Board ? The documents of these lands were also with the farmers. The farmers then went to court in August 2022. After a long hearing, finally 315 farmers got their land rights back.
The court upheld the ownership rights of the aggrieved farmers, but still 201 farmers are said to be waiting for the court’s decision.
