Mumbai – Against the backdrop of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi’ (MVA) released its election manifesto on 10 th November 2024. The manifesto outlines the actions they plan to implement within the first 100 days if they come to power. It includes an assurance to implement the ‘Shakti’ Act for the protection of women.
Under the ‘Mahalaxmi Scheme,’ it promises to provide women with a monthly allowance of Rs 3,000, free bus travel, six gas cylinders per year at a subsidised rate of Rs 500 each, self- defence training for women, two days of optional leave during menses, and a deposit of Rs one lakh in a girl’s account when she turns 18. It also includes debt waivers up to Rs 3 lakh for farmers with an additional Rs 50,000 discount on the remaining loan balance. Graduates would receive a monthly allowance of Rs 4,000, and a ‘Youth Commission’ would be established to promote youth welfare. Additionally, free medicines would be made available in Government hospitals, caste-based census would be conducted, and honorarium would be given to senior artists.
There are also initiatives to be completed by 2030, such as the expansion of Konkan Railway, resolving the Maharashtra-Karnataka border issue, creating jobs for 1.25 million unemployed people, and establishing a new education policy for the State.
