Srinagar (Jammu-Kashmir) – Terrorists have once again targeted non-local workers in Jammu and Kashmir. In Budgam’s Majma village, militants opened fire on labourers, injuring 2 workers from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who were engaged in the Jal Jeevan Project. Following the attack, security forces sealed off the area and initiated a search operation. This marks the 2nd attack on non-Kashmiris in the region in the past two weeks; on October 20th, terrorists killed seven people in Ganderbal.
National Conference MP Ruhullah Mehdi blames BJP government for the attackFollowing the terror attack in Budgam, Srinagar MP and National Conference leader Ruhullah Mehdi criticized the BJP-led Union government, holding it responsible for the rise in attacks. He claimed that the incidents have surged following the recent assembly elections. Editorial PerspectiveIt is hardly surprising that a National Conference MP, who has previously advocated for the release of arrested terrorists during assembly elections, would politicize this incident. His stance seems consistent with his history of supporting leniency toward extremist elements, even in moments when national security is at stake. |
Editorial PerspectiveIt should be noted that as long as Pakistan, the originator of “Jihad,” continues its influence, achieving lasting peace and ending terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir will remain challenging. |
