Racist Slogans Emerge Over Diwali Event in London

London (UK) – Following London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s announcement of a Diwali celebration on 27th October, racist slogans targeting Indians surfaced, with statements such as “Go back to India, Indians have ruined every country.” The individuals responsible for these statements remain unidentified.

Indians constitute approximately 7.5% of London’s total population. Mayor Sadiq Khan shared a video on Instagram, inviting everyone to a grand Diwali event at Trafalgar Square on 27th October. In the video, he extended Diwali greetings to Indians, inviting them to join the celebration. However, shortly after the announcement, the video attracted a series of racist comments targeting the Indian community.
