Muslim female officer forbids Hindu employees wear tilak on their forehead, allows Muslim employees to offer namaz

  • Allegations by a Hindu Female Employee of Air India

  • Complaint filed with Prime Minister Modi

New Delhi – Chanchal Tyagi, a female employee of Air India stationed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, has shared a video on social media. In the video, she revealed the harassment she allegedly faced from her Muslim female officer. So far, Air India has not issued any official statement regarding the matter. Tyagi claims that Mehzabeen, a Muslim officer at Air India, stopped her from wearing tilak on her forehead after performing her prayers.

Tyagi lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police Commissioner regarding the harassment she faced. As no action was taken, she released the video and sought justice from Prime Minister Modi and other BJP leaders. Tyagi stated, “After performing my worship, I apply a tilak on my forehead. No one in the establishment had any objections to this, but when Mehzabeen joined, she started objecting to the tilak and pressured me to remove it. She warned, ‘If you come to the office with a tilak, action will be taken against you.’ She further alleged that Mehzabeen allowed Muslim employees to offer namaz five times a day.”

When approached for comment, Mehzabeen denied all the allegations, calling them baseless. She stated that the company’s rules and uniform code apply equally to all employees, whether they are Hindu or Muslim. According to her, both Hindu employees wearing a tilak and Muslim employees wearing a cap are not permitted. These rules were established to avoid displaying religious symbols at the airport, where travellers from various faiths are present.

Air India must investigate the matter and reveal the truth to the public.
