Case of molestation of a girl in MSRTC bus

Dapoli (Dist. Ratnagiri) – Bus conductor Majid Tamboli, who molested a female student in a MSRTC bus, has been suspended by the Corporation. On October 10, Dapoli depot in-charge Munaf Rajapkar informed that Majid was suspended from the service.

On October 9, Majid Tamboli molested a female student in a MSRTC bus enroute Junior College in Panchanadi from Vanaushi. The incident of molestation was repeated 2-3 times. Eventually., the victim beat up Majid with her footwear. After pressure from the villagers, he was taken into custody by the Police and arrested under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the ‘POCSO’ Act. The case is being further investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Amol Gore of Dabhol Marine Police Station.

Editorial Perspective

MSRTC is cheating the public with this action. Suspending a bus conductor who could not furnish his identity card or badge while on duty is only a temporary measure to keep him on half salary until the enquiry is over and then reinstate him. Instead, he should be fired.
