Waqf Board has land more than the area of ​​50 countries

New Delhi – Supreme Court lawyer and BJP leader Mr Ashwini Upadhyay shared that there are 50 countries whose area is less than the land being held by the Waqf Board alone. Upadhyay also shared that while other land disputes are decided in courts, for Waqf land disputes, there is a separate tribunal.

The Indian Army has 18 lakh acres of land while the Indian Railways has 12 lakh acres of land. The Waqf board has 8.7 lakh properties across the 30 States/UTs in India. Maldives has a total area of 75,000 acres while the Waqf board has land of around 9.4 lakh hectares. The Maldives has a total land area of approximately 298 square kilometres (115 square miles). The area of Singapore is around 1.8 lakh acres, not even on third of the Waqf land. The land area is approximately 728 square kilometres (281 square miles). Bahrain’s land area is 1.9 lakh acres, similar to Singapore. The land area is approximately 765 square kilometres (295 square miles). The area of Hong Kong’s is around 2.75 lakh acres or approximately 1,106 square kilometres (427 square miles). Denmark’s area is around 3.45 lakh acres, around one-third of the Waqf board’s land holdings. The land area is approximately 42,933 square kilometres (16,577 square miles) excluding Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Finland, Mauritius, Luxembourg, and Cyprus are among the 50 nations whose land area is less than the Waqf board.

According to a controversial provision in the country’s current Waqf Board Act, once a land goes to a Waqf Board, it cannot be transferred again. According to a statistic, after railways, defence and the Catholic Church, the Waqf Board owns the most land in the country.
