Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Bangladesh’s head of interim government Muhammad Yunus has told former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that she should keep her mouth shut until it (Bangladesh) holds talks with India for her repatriation, so that relations between the two countries remain the same. Also, he said it was required to work together to diffuse the tension between India and Bangladesh and improve the relations further. Yunus’ statement comes in the context of Sheikh Hasina’s statement on 13th August. Sheikh Hasina had demanded justice and said that “those involved in the recent terrorist activities and murders in Bangladesh should be investigated and punished”.
1. While advising Sheikh Hasina, Yunus further said that no one in India agrees with Sheikh Hasina’s stand. She is in India. The statements she makes create problems. While being in India, she is rattling and giving suggestions. No one likes it. Unless the Government of Bangladesh wants to bring her back, until then, she will have to keep quiet.
2. Yunus said Bangladesh values strong relations with India; however, India will have to get out of the idea that ‘Without Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh will be like Afghanistan’. India should stop portraying political parties other than the Awami League as ‘Islami ’. India should stop saying that ‘it is because of Hasina’s leadership that the country gets stability’.
Editorial PerspectiveThis statement shows how Bangladesh is going to treat Sheikh Hasina ! Sheikh Hasina only is responsible for this situation. If she had taken a tough decision, this situation would not have come today ! |
