Pakistan published textbooks are taught in Government-funded madarasas in Bihar

  • Madarasas teach that Hindus are ‘Kafir’ (infidels)

  • Madarasa curriculum was developed by UNICEF

  • NCPCR demands dissolution of the State Madrasa Board

Priyank Kanungo, Chairman, National Commission for Protection of Childs

New Delhi – In some Government-funded madarasas in Bihar, religious extremism is being taught, with Hindus being referred to as ‘Kafir’ (idol worshippers, atheists, etc.). It has been revealed that many of the textbooks used here are printed in Pakistan. Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), has called for the dissolution of the Madrasa Board.

1. Priyank Kanoongo shared photos of some of these textbooks on his social media account, highlighting that books like ‘Talim ul Islam’ and others are being taught in Government-funded madarasas in Bihar. These books refer to non-Muslims as ‘Kafir.’ It has also been reported that Hindu children are also being admitted to these madrasas, but the Bihar Government has not provided official statistics on this matter.

2. According to Kanoongo, the Bihar Madrasa Board informed that UNICEF India was involved in developing the curriculum. He remarked, “This is the height of appeasement by the UNICEF and Madrasa Board. It is not UNICEF’s job to create radical curriculum using money received as donations and grants from Governments in the name of child protection. This act is against the Constitution of India, and there should be an inquiry and oversight by the United Nations regarding this.”

3. Kanoongo further asserted, “A Madarasa is not a place for basic education of children in any form. Children should study in regular schools and Hindu children should not be in madarasas at all. The Madrasa Board should be dissolved.” In his post, Kanoongo tagged the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the United Nations.

What is printed in these books ?

1. In the screenshot shared by Priyank Kanoongo, the title of the book is ‘Talim ul Islam’ (Education of Islam). The answer to the first question, ‘Who created you ?,’ is written as “Allah created me and everything in the world.”

2. The second question was, ‘How did Allah create the world?’ The answer reads, “Allah created the world with His might and decree.”

3. The book refers to those who do not believe in Allah as ‘Kafir’ and those who worship others as ‘Mushriks.’

4. Another question in the same book asks, “Will the polytheists attain salvation ?” The answer is written as ‘never.’ It is also mentioned that polytheists shall be doomed for eternal punishment and affliction.

5. Additionally, many pages in the books feature Islamic symbols, including the Saudi Arabian mosque ‘Al Nabawi.’

Editorial Perspectives

Why isn’t the Government, which funds these madarasas, paying attention to what is being taught there ? Is it being deliberately ignored to appease Muslims ? Hindus should now pressure the Union Government to shut down all madarasas in the country.
