Assurance in the election manifesto of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference party
Srinagar (Jammu-Kashmir) – Jammu and Kashmir assembly election is going to be held next month and all the political parties have started their preparations for the elections. The Jammu-Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) party circulated a manifesto on 19thAugust. It includes a point to restore special status to Jammu and Kashmir by reintroducing Article 370. It also includes the implementation of the autonomy resolution passed by the then Legislative Assembly in the year 2000. The then Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government rejected this demand. Under this, there was a demand to restore the pre-1953 constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir. It has also been mentioned in this manifesto that we will resume talks with Pakistan.

1. Among other assurances of the JKNC, it was announced that political prisoners would be pardoned and released from confinement. Along with this, it has also been said that Kashmiri Hindus will be brought back to the Kashmir valley with dignity.
2. The JKNC also said that free electricity and gas cylinders will be provided to citizens.
3. Omar Abdullah has announced that he will not participate in the assembly elections unless Jammu and Kashmir gets special status. Due to this, his father and JKNC chief Farooq Abdullah will be in charge of the party in the upcoming elections.
Let’s try to start a discussion between India and Pakistan – Omar Abdullah
Omar Abdullah also mentioned starting talks with Pakistan. If we form the Government, we will try to open talks between India and Pakistan. What’s wrong with that ? We are always on the side of discussion. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee also said ‘We can change friends, not neighbours’. Today we are not in a position to discuss with Pakistan; but it is likely to be discussed in the future.
