Haryana’s BJP Government directs the State schools
Chandigarh – The Haryana Government has directed the State schools to ask students to say ‘Jai Hind’ instead of ‘Good Morning’ to greet each other or the teachers starting 15th August. The decision has been taken to instil the feeling of pride and patriotism in the students. The Government circular in this regard mentioned that this would also nurture pride among the students for the national unity and India’s great history.
The order has been sent to all the District Education Officers, Divisional Education Officers and school headmasters; but the order has not been made compulsory for the schools.
The Government circular states that it is believed that the greeting ‘Jai Hind’ was introduced by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It was later accepted by the Indian defence forces after independence. The greeting ‘Jai Hind’ obscures the regional, linguistic, and cultural boundaries, and instils unity among students from various background. This will nurture discipline along with a feeling of oneness in the students.
