Incident of denying entry to a farmer wearing dhoti

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The Government has taken action against Bengaluru’s GT World mall for denying entry to a farmer wearing a dhoti and Nehru shirt. The mall has been ordered to close for 7 days as a penalty.
Fakirappa, a farmer from Haveri District, came to Bengaluru with his wife to visit their son studying in the city. When they went to watch a movie at the multiplex inside the mall, a security guard stopped them at the entrance and cited mall rules. The guard insisted they could only enter if they wore pants. Despite repeated requests from the father and the son, the guard did not relent.

A video of the incident was captured and circulated widely on social media. Taking note of the video, the Government registered a case against the mall owner and the security guard under Section 126(2) of the Indian Penal Code (wrongful restraint). Consequently, the mall was ordered to close for 7 days. The incident occurred on 16thJuly, and action was taken against the mall on 18thJuly.
