Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah faces serious allegations in land scam case

Siddaramaiah accused of submitting fake documents for compensation

New Delhi – A complaint has been filed against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for submitting fake documents for compensation from ‘Mysore Urban Development Authority’ (MUDA). Social activist Snehamayi Krishna filed a complaint against 10 persons including Siddaramaiah, wife Parvathi, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, landlord Devaraj and 6 others.

The complaint also alleged the involvement of Deputy Commissioner, Tehsildar, Deputy Registrar and ‘MUDA’ officials. Apart from this, Snehamayi Krishna has also written a letter to the Governor, Chief Secretary and Revenue Secretary, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

What is the charge ?

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi and their relatives in connivance with ‘MUDA’ officials, created forged documents to get expensive lands under ’50:50 land distribution scheme’. The BJP has also started protesting the Congress Government in the State in this matter.

Misappropriation through ’50:50 land distribution scheme’

In 2021, Siddaramaiah’s wife was a beneficiary of the ‘MUDA’ scheme. Under this scheme, ‘MUDA’ was able to acquire land for developing residential complexes on any land. The rule was that ‘50% of the land in the developed area will be given to the original owners of the land in lieu of acquisition’. The land allotment scam under this scheme was exposed by an RTI activist. In the last 4 years, more than 6,000 land parcels has been allotted under the 50:50 scheme. Under this, the landowners whose land was acquired by ‘MUDA’, were given alternative plots having higher price, as compensation.

It is a perennial equation that Congress means scams and corruption. So, it will not be surprising if the allegations against Siddaramaiah are proven true.
