Yatra to continue till 19th August

Srinagar (Jammu-Kashmir) – This year, many places across the country suffered record heat. Its effect can also be seen on the Amarnath Yatra. The yatra started on 30thJune. Within just 7 days, the ice Shivalinga formed in the Amarnath cave has melted. The ‘Amarnath Shrine Board’ has confirmed the melting of Shivalinga in a video on YouTube.
Shivalinga melting within a few days after the beginning of Yatra has occurred in the past too. In 2008, the Shivalinga had melted within 10 days of the beginning of yatra. In 2016, it melted within 13 days. Last year, the Shivalinga melted in just 14 days. Now the devotees visiting Amarnath can only see the holy cave. The yatra will continue till 19thAugust.
