New Delhi – India received Rs 10,02,821 crore in remittances in 2023, which is almost twice of money received by Mexico during the same period, the World Bank said in a report released on 26th June. Non-residents of Mexico remitted Rs 5 lakh crore from abroad to their country. After this, China is at the fourth position with Rs 4 lakh crore, Philippines with Rs 3 lakh crore and Pakistan at the fifth position with Rs 220 thousand crore.
In the year 2022, Non-resident Indians sent Rs 9,28,000 crore to India. At the same time, non-resident Pakistanis had remitted Rs 2.5 lakh crore; but in the year 2023, it decreased by 12%.
Money sent from UAE through UPA
Due to the introduction of UPA (Online Money Transfer) system in the United Arab Emirates, Indians who went there for work sent money to the country through it.
According to the World Bank, Indians have sent the most money from the United States. After that, it has been sent from the United Arab Emirates.
