Vishwa Hindu Parishad warns BJP and Shiv Sena
Mumbai – The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has given an advice-cum-warning to the ruling Mahayuti Alliance of Shiv Sena and BJP in Maharashtra against funding the Waqf Board and has said that the Government should reconsider its decision to strengthen the Waqf Board. VHP said that if the ₹10 crore fund announced by the Government for strengthening the Waqf Board is not withdrawn, the Government will face the wrath of Hindus in the upcoming assembly elections.
The Konkan region secretary of the VHP Mohan Salekar said, ‘We oppose granting funds for the strengthening of the Waqf Board. Mahayuti Alliance is doing what even the Congress Government avoided doing. This is appeasement based on religion. On the one hand, the leaders of the Mahayuti Alliance are yelling that politics should not be done based on religion, while on the other hand, subsidies are being given based on religion. We will not tolerate the strengthening of radicalism in this way’.
Cancel the grants made to the Waqf Board, otherwise face the fury of Hindus in the assembly elections! – Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s warning to BJP and Shiv Sena!

What is the case ?
In 2007, when the Congress was in power in Maharashtra, during the tenure of the then Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, it had promised the Union Government to grant subsidy to the Waqf Board. Fulfilling this promise, a grant of ₹10 crore has been given for the year 2024-25 to strengthen the Waqf Board. Out of which, ₹2 crore has already been given by the State Government on 10th June.
