In Russia, 12 scientists arrested on the charges of treason

Moscow, Russia – 12 scientists have been arrested in Russia since 2015. Three of them have died. Human rights organizations have expressed concern about this arrest. The arrested scientists were working on hypersonic weapons. They have been arrested on charges of treason. Scientist Vladislav Galkin has been arrested a few days ago. His house was raided and he was arrested. Galkin was working on hypersonic technology.

Galkin and other scientists were accused of sending documents related to hypersonic technology abroad. His colleagues and lawyers said he only studied physical processes, not making weapons.

Earlier, a scientist named Dimitri died 2 days after his arrest. They were accused of providing information about these weapons to foreign spies.

Currently, there is an environment of fear among scientists in Russia. Scientists in Russia are in contact with scientists abroad to exchange information. Still, Russia’s intelligence agency, the Federal Security Service (FSB), considers it a crime for Russian scientists to keep in touch with foreign scientists.
