Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh) – Notorious gangster Mukhtar Ansari’s last rites were performed at Kali Bagh graveyard. Only his family members were allowed to be present for the last rites.

More than 30,000 Muslims, however, joined the funeral and were present outside the graveyard. Police encountered challenges in crowd management, particularly those attempting to enter the restricted burial ground. Consequently, security personnel, including paramilitary forces, were heavily deployed around Ansari’s residence and the burial site.

Mukhtar Ansari’s life was marred by controversies and legal battles. His first encounter with law enforcement took place when he was just 15-years-old. From thereon, his criminal record burgeoned, with a staggering 67 cases lodged against him, ranging from murder to extortion.

In April 2023, he was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai. Earlier this month, he received a life sentence for his involvement in obtaining an arms license using forged documents.

Mukhtar Ansari was in jail in Banda, where he suffered a cardiac attack. He was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead. Though his family members claimed that the cause of his death was poisoning, the post-mortem report shows the cause of death as a cardiac attack. A judicial inquiry is also underway in this case.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Please note that fake secularists will never think about the presence of 30,000 Muslims for the funeral of a criminal who was undergoing life imprisonment for 67 cases registered against him and the punishment for the murders of two MLAs.
  • Earlier, more than 20,000 Muslims had joined the funeral of Yakub Memon, the mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, after he was hanged. Now it is necessary to discuss the mentality of such people.
