If elections were held through EVMs in Pakistan, corruption wouldn’t have happened

Islamabad (Pakistan) – After hours of counting votes, Pakistan has still not officially announced the results of the general election held on 8th February. Pakistan President Arif Alvi held the lack of an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) responsible for this unusual delay. However, questions are being raised on Pakistan’s election process at domestic as well as international level.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the main opposition party in the country, while criticising the Election Commission, has said that the entire election process is corrupt. Now incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that, if there had been electronic voting machines (EVM) in the election, all the rigging issues would have been solved in an hour, there would not have been so much corruption in elections. The Election Commission of Pakistan, some political parties and organisations rubbished the plan to use EVMs in the country.

Imran Khan while talking to reporters from jail said that those who steal public mandate in general elections should be prosecuted under treason.
