New Delhi – India’s indigenous ‘Agni-V’ missile has successfully completed its first test. This test was conducted under ‘Mission Divyastra’. PM Narendra Modi shared this information through a post on ‘X’. The missile, developed with MIRV technology by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), allows for multiple nuclear warheads to be deployed.
In his post, PM Modi stated that the success of ‘Mission Divyastra’ now enables the deployment of various warheads to multiple locations using just one missile. Furthermore, this successful test places India among a few nations that possess MIRV technology.
Features of MIVR technology
Ordinary missiles can carry and launch only one nuclear warhead at a time. However, with MIRV technology, a single missile can carry and launch multiple nuclear warheads at different targets. This means that India can now launch several nuclear warheads using just one missile.
