Agra’s Jama Masjid metro station renamed as Mankameshwar metro station

A laudable decision of the Yogi Government and Metro administration

Agra (Uttar Pradesh) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reportedly inaugurate the Mankameshwar metro station on 28thFebruary. Earlier it was known as the Jama Masjid metro station. Now it will be known as the Mankameshwar metro station. The citizens of Agra had made a request for a name change to the Yogi Government and the ‘Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation’ (UPMRC). The State Government ordered the name change accordingly. Thereafter, the officers of the ‘UPMRC’ changed the board of Jama Masjid Metro Station to ‘Mankameshwar Metro Station’, informed Deputy General Manager of ‘UPMRC’ Mr Panchanan Mishra.

An ancient Shiva temple called Mankameshwar stands in Agra’s Rawatpada area. As the new metro station is being built in that area, a request was made by the citizens to name it ‘Mankameshwar Metro Station’. Last year in July, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Agra to inspect the metro work. At that time, he declared the change in the name of this metro station.
