A girl named Shabana Khan forcibly converted my husband; the youth’s wife alleges

Bareilly (UP) – A video of a 24-year-old Hindu youth named Akash Maurya has gone viral. In this video, he is seen wearing a skull cap. The song ‘Mera Dil Toh Mohammed’ is being played in the video, with the caption ‘Aaj Mai musalman ho gya’ (Today I became a Muslim) at the bottom. As soon as the video went viral, Akash’s wife Lakshmi filed a Police complaint and alleged that a Muslim girl named Shabana Khan lured Akash into a trap and forcibly converted him.

Lakshmi said that her husband had not returned home since 21st December. While leaving the house, he took some gold and silver coins and ₹23,000 in cash. Akash works as a delivery boy in a courier company. Lakshmi further said that Akash met Shabana 4 months ago. Shabana then started contacting him and lured him into the love trap. One day, Shabana threatened Lakshmi on a video call that Akash had converted to Islam, and if she tried to contact Akash, she would be harmed. Akash seemed to be crying at that time. When contacted on 26th December, Akash’s father said that the allegations of conversion were true. Akash is now back home.

Editorial Perspectives

Despite the Prohibition of Conversion Act being enforced in Uttar Pradesh, Muslim women converting Hindus in this way, is a sign of identity crisis among Hindus. This shows that only making laws is not sufficient, but it is necessary to empower Hindus by making them perform spiritual practice.
