The Supreme Court rejects Eidgah Mosque Committee’splea

Mathura (UP) – The Supreme Court refused to stay the Allahabad High Court’s order appointing a judicial commissioner to survey the Shahi Eidgah mosque complex in Mathura, which is the birthplace of Shrikrushna. The Eidgah Mosque Committee had moved the Supreme Court against the High Court’s order, alleging that it was illegal and arbitrary.
The Supreme Court observed, ‘If the order of the High Court in this regard has not been submitted to us, how can we hear it ?’ The Committee argued, ‘The hearing will be held on 18 th December regarding the survey. A Court Commissioner will be appointed at that time. The Supreme Court stated, ‘It was not intervening right now and that if the High Court passes an order in the meantime, the mosque committee may approach the Supreme Court.
