Bengaluru (Karnataka) – In a horrific incident in village Hosa Vantamuri near Karnataka’s Belagavi city, a woman was beaten, stripped, paraded naked and then tied to an electric pole. During the hearing the Karnataka High Court itself took note of the incident and expressed its anguish towards the Karnataka Government and the Police for their negligence and delayed action. The Court observed, “What will other women feel? Any sensible woman, who reads this news, will start hating this country and justifiably.”
Drawing an analogy from Mahabharata, the Bench said that there was at least Shrikrushna to help Draupadi. In today’s world, if Duryodhanas/Dushyashana come, no Krushna will come to help. The woman was left at the mercy of those demons. Imagine how shocked that woman must have been. We should be ashamed to call the accused humans after such an inhumane act. How can someone be so cruel, the Bench observed.
Court questioned the Police as to, ‘Why did the Police take 2 hours to reach the spot, and where was the Police when the woman was being treated in such an inferior manner ?’ The Commissioner of Police was ordered to submit a detailed report of the incident before the Court. The Court also told the administration and the accused that ‘this case will be dealt with very strictly’.
