Religious conversion of Hindus attempted through a so-called prayer meeting in Azamgarh (UP)

Azamgarh (UP) – An incident of attempted conversion of Hindus has come to light in Lalmau village of Mehnajpur area of Azamgarh District. A prayer meeting was organised here by 2 Christians named Salman and Tribhuvan Ram. A sound system was also arranged for the meeting. After Ravindra Ram, a local Hindu, filed a Police complaint against the two, the Police immediately arrested them. 10 copies of the Bible, a two-wheeler and a sound system were seized from them.

Ravindra Ram said in his complaint, that the accused were luring and pressurising the local Hindus to convert to Christianity. The so-called prayer meeting, which was a conspiracy to convert Hindus, was planned on 24th September. Hindus were being lured with money; also, Hindu children were being promised better schools for education. No permission was taken for this prayer meeting.
