Balod (Chhattisgarh) – It has come to light that the conversion of Hindus is taking place on a large scale every Saturday and Sunday in Dhanora village of the Balod District in Chhattisgarh. Hindus are being converted under the pretext of prayer meetings hold on these days. Villagers have alleged that many visitors come from Dhamtari District for this purpose. These meetings claim to cure people’s ailments and make everything better in their lives. Many Hindus have been converted through such means.

1. The second house from the venue of the prayer meeting belongs to Congress-backed panchayat member Lalita Piman Sahu. The organiser of the prayer meeting is Narendra Sahu and he is a former Hindu. The villagers are outraged because of all this.

2. Similarly, conversion efforts are being made on a large scale in Atal Awas, Ganjpara, Shiv Colony, and many rural areas of Balod District.

3. A few months ago, many Hindus were converted in the ‘Changai Sabha’ held in the villages of Balodgahan and Siwani. The villagers of Siwani village had surrounded the Collector’s office following these incidents and submitted a statement to take action against conversion.

4. Speaking on the matter, Congress leader Kunwer Singh Nishad said that conversions came to light when BJP was in power for 15 years in the State. Our Government takes conversion issue very seriously. (If it is so, why doesn’t Congress enact an anti-conversion law in the State ? – Editor)

5. On the other hand, BJP spokesperson Devlal Thakur accused Congress that its Government only pretends to protect culture and traditions. On the other hand, it gives shelter to those who convert Hindus. During the rule of Congress, conversions are on the rise and various kinds of missionaries are roaming scot-free around the State converting naive Hindus.

Editorial Viewpoints

  • It will not be an exaggeration to say that Christians have got free rein for conversion in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh. To prevent the conversion of Hindus, it is necessary to pass a nationwide anti-conversion law.
  • In order to prevent the conversion of Hindus, it is necessary to grow the pride of Dharma among them. For this, education on the Dharma is the only option.
