Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker A N Shamseer had stated in a programme that ‘Gajmukh Shri Ganesh is just a mythology’. BJP and VHP have filed a police complaint against him for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has said that a statement demanding the removal of Shamseer from the post of assembly will be given to the Governor and the President. “In the name of promoting rational thinking, the Speaker has insulted the religious sentiments of Hindus,” said Bharatiya Janata Party’s Thiruvananthapuram District Vice President R S Rajeev said.

Shamseer made anti-Hindu remarks while speaking at a ‘Vidya Jyoti’ programme organised by a Government Higher Secondary School in Ernakulam District. Shamseer is a convert to Islam and has deliberately insulted the religious sentiments of Hindus. “He has tried to create enmity between different religions by making hateful statements,” the complaint said.
