Report claims India is involved in smuggling drugs into the US

Along with India, China’s name is also included

New Delhi –The ‘2025 Annual Threat Assessment (ATA)’—a coordinated evaluation of global threats to US interests—released on Tuesday stated the growing role of these countries in trafficking drugs into the US. Various dangerous drugs including fentanyl and other synthetic opioids are trafficked into the US. In the report, India and China have both been identified as responsible for trafficking into the US.

1.The report says the smuggling of ingredients required for the manufacture of fentanyl are being sent from India and China. This has increased manufacture of Fentanyl in the US. In 2024, 52,000 Americans have died because of consumption of Fentanyl.

2.The findings follow a recent federal case in Washington DC, where an India-based chemical manufacturing company and three of its executives were charged with illegally importing fentanyl precursors.

3.Two top-ranking employees of a Hyderabad-based company were also arrested in New York City last week in connection with the case. Based on this, India’s name has been included in this report.
