QR Code placed outside the mosque to protest against the Uniform Civil Code

New Delhi – Union Government’s Law Commission of India has sought opinion from citizens on making Uniform Civil Code in India. It has received a great response. More than 60 lakh people are reported to have sent their feedback. This law is being opposed by Muslim organisations. In this background, it is seen that a special ‘QR Code’ has been put up outside the mosque in some places, thereby appealing to the Law Commission of India to register a protest. This was also seen in cities like Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Mumbai.

In Bareilly, activists of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind have placed this ‘QR Code’ outside a mosque. Muslims coming to pray in the mosque are sending a message of protest by scanning the ‘QR Code’ through mobile phones. Muslims here say “Uniform Civil Code is against Sharia Law. So Muslims will not tolerate it. Muslims have got some rights since Independence. We are following it”.

QR Codes are also being posted outside the Noorani Masjid at Pathanwadi in Malad, Mumbai to send messages of protest. After getting information about this, the local Police called the manager of the mosque for investigation. Ahmed Jamal, a former corporator here, said that Muslims do not accept Uniform Civil Code.
