Terrorist organisations distort the image of religion : Al-Issa, Muslim World League chief

New Delhi – Muslim World League chief, Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa slammed terrorist organisations by saying that they operate on “distorting the image of religions”. He is currently on a 5-day visit to India and was speaking at a program called ‘Dialogue for Harmony among Religions’. Al-Issa criticised organisations which promote terrorism and expressed concern about the escalating conflict around the world.

Terrorist organisations have no religion or country

When asked about terrorist organisations such as ISIS, Al Qaeda, Taliban, and Boko Haram, which pose a threat to humanity, stability and global peace, Al-Issa asserted, “These terrorist organisations do not represent Muslims, they are limited only to their own organisation. They have no religion or country.”

Editorial Viewpoints

  • What is the use of just saying it ? Today, when the world is suffering from Islamic terrorism, have Muslim clerics and leaders ever issued a single fatwa against terrorism ? It wouldn’t be wrong if someone says that those who don’t even utter the word ‘Jihadi terrorism’ are supporting jihad ?
  • On one hand, Al-Issa says that terrorist organisations are distorting the image of religion, on the other hand, he also says that terrorist organisations have no religion or country. These contradictory statements reveal Al-Issa’s duplicity.
