Prayagraj (UP) – The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court reprimanded the producers of the film ‘Adipurush’ in harsh words for the second day in a row. “Suppose you make even a short documentary on the Quran, depicting wrong things, you will see what will happen. Sacred texts such as the Quran & Bible should not be touched and encroached upon in a similar way. However, I may once again clarify that it is not about any one religion. It is by chance that this issue is concerned with Ramayan, otherwise, the Court belongs to all religions”, said Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan.Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court reprimanded the makers of the film ‘Adipurush’ in harsh words for the second day in a row that, “Suppose if you make even a short documentary on the Quran, depicting wrong things, then you will see what will happen. Sacred texts such as the Quran & Bible should not be touched and encroached upon in a similar way. However, I may once again clarify that it is not about any one religion. It is by chance that this issue is concerned with Ramayan, otherwise, Court belongs to all religions.”
The Court was hearing a plea filed by social activists Kuldeep Tiwari and Bandana Kumar. The petitioners asserted that the film in question casts doubt on the integrity of the revered Epic Ramayan and defamed the cultural heritage of Ayodhya as well as of the Hindu religion.
The film’s trailer was clumsy and indecent, which has resulted in hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus, the plea stated. The petitioners further noted that despite the Allahabad High Court issuing notice to the CBFC during a hearing held in January 2023, the Board has not yet responded in the matter.
An amendment application was filed to include the film’s dialogue writer, Manoj Shukla, as a party in the case. The application also objected to the dialogues, terming them to be ‘ridiculous’, ‘filthy’, and ‘against the glory of Ramayan Yuga’.

Why is the tolerance of Hindus tested all the time ? Fortunately, Hindus did not take law into their hands !Lucknow (UP) – ‘Why is the tolerance of Hindus tested all the time ? Luckily, the Hindus did not break any law while expressing their opposition to the film’ observed the Bench, rebuking the Film’s Producers. The Bench asked : 1. Is it correct to try the patience of good people ? It is good that this happened about a religion whose followers do not create problems for the public and administration. We should thank them. In the news, I read that some individuals went to theatres and made them wind up the film. They could have done many other things too. 2. This petition is about the way this film has been made. There are some Holy texts that are venerated. Many read the ‘Ramcharitmanas’ before stepping out of the house. The petitioners are saying that the story of Ram has been altered completely in the film. This is denigration of Dharma. 3. The Bench has called this a serious matter. You should ask the Censor Board how has this happened, because the State Government can do nothing in this matter. 4. Speaking about the disclaimer, the Bench said – Do the people giving this disclaimer think that the youth and citizens of this country are fools ? You show Ram, Lakshman, Hanuman, Ravan, etc. and say this is not ‘Ramayan’ ! |
