I am not Savarkar, I am Gandhi. Will not apologise ! : Rahul Gandhi

Surat (Gujrat) – A Court in Surat convicted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a criminal defamation case filed in 2019 by Purnesh Modi, a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The Chief Judicial Magistrate sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years’ imprisonment. After this, Rahul was stripped of his MP status.

As the Modi community falls under the OBC category, the BJP also accused Rahul Gandhi of insulting the Modi community. Rahul Gandhi called a press conference to present his stand and said, “Even if I am stripped of MP status, I will not remain silent. I will not stop questioning the Modi Government. I am not afraid of them”. When a journalist asked Rahul Gandhi, “BJP has said, if you had apologised, this situation would not have arisen. What do you think about this ?” Rahul Gandhi reiterated, “I am not Savarkar, I am Gandhi. I will not apologise”.

Addressing Swatantryaveer Savarkar as ‘Maafiveer’ is absolutely inappropriate : Sharad Pawar

What should Pawar’s about-turn be called ?  Changing in response to the anger of people or wisdom once the horse has bolted from the stable ?

Will Rahul Gandhi apologise for insulting Swatantryaveer Savarkar ? Else a case should be filed against him and he be handed stringent punishment.

New Delhi – A dinner meeting of friendly opposition parties had been organised at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi participated in the opposition parties meeting for the first time. Shivsena (Uddhav Thackeray group) and Trinamool Congress leaders were not present.

During the meeting,  Sharad Pawar (President of the Nationalist Congress Party) said, “Swatantryaveer Savarkar was never a member of the RSS. It is inappropriate to call him a ‘Maafiveer’. We have many important issues before us, which we should discuss”. Rahul Gandhi said that he respected Sharad Pawar’s viewpoint. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also said that he respected Sharad Pawar’s comment. Many MPs from the United Progressive Alliance expressed their concurrence with Sharad Pawar’s view.

Editorial Viewpoints

India is a Democracy, everyone is entitled to freedom of speech and can voice their opinion. However, Rahul Gandhi has forgotten that the Constitution does not allow anyone to defame others in the name of this freedom. His behaviour shows that he is speaking without any thought.

Rahul Gandhi is a hypocrite. Twice earlier, he had sought forgiveness from the Court. So, he was not punished. Rahul Gandhi is blatantly lying to prove himself superior to freedom fighter Savarkar !
