Terrorists drove in an SUV on the evening of the 1st January in the Upper Dhangri area. They called out Hindus staying near the Ram Mandir, checked their Aadhaar cards, and then fired at them.

The Additional Director-General of Police, Mukesh Singh of Jammu, said that the local Police, the Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) and the Army have surrounded the Upper Dhangri area to hunt for the terrorists. They would be found soon and action would be taken.

Other than this incident, terrorists threw grenades at the bunker of the 28th Battalion of CRPF at Hawal Chowk in Srinagar on 1st January, in which one citizen was injured.

Irfan Bashir Ghani, a 25-year-old youth, snatched away an AK-47 rifle from a CRPF Jawan at Pulwama in the Rajpora area on the same morning. The area was then circled by security forces and a search for the terrorists was on. The Jihadi was taken to a Police station by his family in the evening.
