BJP accuses TMC of the attack
Cooch Behar (Bengal) – The convoy of the Union Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs, Nisith Pramanik, was attacked by a few people from the mob with crude bombs and stones. Pramanik was going to Setai to meet the members of his party. Later, BJP workers started stone-pelting at the attackers. BJP has accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) of the attack.
1. Sumit Kumar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) said that the scuffle ensued when some people gathered on the route of his convoy waved black flags at him as the members of the convoy had arguments with the people waving black flags. The Police on duty, however, intervened and kept the situation under control. Nobody has been arrested in this connection.
2. Minister Pramanik said that the mob gathered carrying sticks, stones, and other weapons in the presence of the Police. BJP members would not keep quiet in case of another such attack.
The earlier attacks on BJP leaders in Bengal1. In April 2021, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat’s motorcade was attacked and vehicles were damaged while looting whatever was kept in those vehicles. 2. In December 2020, the convoy of BJP’s national President Jagat Prakash Nadda was attacked. His vehicle was, however, bulletproof; therefore, he was saved. Before that, BJP’s Bengal coordinator, Kailash Vijayvargiya’s vehicle was attacked wherein the glasses of his vehicle were broken. 3. Motorcades of BJP’s former regional president Dilip Ghosh and MLA Suvendu Adhikari were also attacked. |
