Commercial activities within a radius of 500 metres of the Taj Mahal should be closed : Supreme Court

New Delhi – The Supreme Court has directed the Agra Development Authority to remove all commercial shops within a radius of 500 metres of the Taj Mahal. The Supreme Court passed the order on an application by a group of shop owners who were allotted plots outside the 500-metre radius of the Taj Mahal.

Senior Advocates A.D.N. Rao, Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Abhay S. Oka assisted the Court as a friend in the case. The Bench said the Taj Mahal is a world heritage site. All business activities around the Taj Mahal should be closed. Violating the earlier orders of the Court, illegal commercial activities were carried out around the Taj Mahal.
