Delhi Police denies permission for PFI event which was to be held on 30th July

New Delhi – Delhi Police has denied permission to the PFI to hold a rally which was scheduled to be held on 30^th July. The rally, dubbed ‘Save the Republic’, was set to take place at Ambedkar Bhawan in New Delhi’s Jhandewalan area.

This comes after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) wrote to the Delhi Police requesting that the PFI rally in the national capital be stopped. VHP leader Surendra Kumar Gupta claimed that the PFI has been running suspicious activities across the country and should not be allowed to hold any rally in Delhi.

Surendra Gupta further said in Hindi, “The investigation of PFI involvement in many violent incidents in the country is going on in many States. On the occasion of Independence Day, such activities can spoil the environment in Delhi”.

Another VHP leader, Vinod Bansal, retweeted the letter on his Twitter handle and wrote, “VHP will never allow the anti-national activities of #PFI. We have sent a letter to @DelhiPolice @CPDelhi to stop it immediately”.

Earlier on 7^th July, the BJP’s Telangana unit called for a ban on the PFI following the arrest of its leaders in Nizamabad and urged the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to ban the radical organisation, citing recent arrests and subsequent confessions by suspects that the PFI has been actively radicalising Muslim youth for years.
