Tax evasion of Rs 2,217 crore by the Chinese company ‘Vivo India’ exposed

New Delhi – The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) caught the tax violation by the Chinese mobile manufacturing company ‘Vivo Mobile India Private Limited’, of Rs 2,217 crore. The DRI officials raided Vivo India’s factory premises. They found proof that purposely wrong explanations were given for the imported mobile parts needed for the manufacture of mobile units.

The DRI gave a show cause notice and made a demand of Rs 2,217 crore under the Customs Act 1962. The Vivo India deposited Rs 60 crore voluntarily.
