Muslim singer criticised by the Ulema of Deoband for singing a Bhajan of Deity Shiva
(Ulema means the one who keeps an eye on whether the religious rules of Islam are being followed or not)

Muzzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) – The Ulema of Deoband criticised the YouTube singer Farmani Naz for singing Deity Shiva’s bhajan ‘Har Har Shambhu’ for the Kavad Yatra, saying it is ‘against Sharia’. The Ulema also said that, any type of singing is not permitted in Islam. In fact it is against Islam. Hence Farmani should give up such things.

Artists have no religion – Farmani Naz
Reacting to this, Farmani has said that I am an artist. Hence as an artist i am expected to sing many types of songs. An artist has no religion. I sing both Qawwalis and devotional songs with all my heart. Hence I do not care about the Ulema or anything else. The artist does not present art as a Hindu or Muslim.
