Professor returns 33-month salary worth ₹24 lakhs as no student attended lectures !

Muzaffarnagar (Bihar) – Lalan Kumar, an assistant professor at Nitisheswar College in Bihar, said he had not been able to teach anyone as no students had come to his class in the last 33 months. He has hence, repaid his entire salary of 33 months. Lalan Kumar, 33, has deposited a cheque of ₹23,82,228 in B R Ambedkar Bihar University.

1. Prof. Lalan Kumar told the media, ‘My conscience does not allow me to take salary without teaching students. Only a few students were present while taking online tuition too. If I take a salary without teaching anything for so many years, it is like an academic demise for me’.

2. On the other hand, the principal of the college, Manoj Kumar, has alleged, ‘The reason behind the payback of Lalan Kumar’s salary is not only the absence of students but also the pressure to get transfer to the postgraduate department’. Lalan Kumar has applied for a transfer to the postgraduate department.
