Maharashtra Govt. makes a huge provision of Rs 120 crore for minority students’ scholarships !

A five times increase compared to the total funds made available during the last 3 years !

Mumbai – The Maharashtra Government has made a huge provision of Rs 120 crore in the financial year 2022-23 for only the financially weak and merit-worthy students from the minority. These funds are five times more than the total funds made available in the last 3 years.

The scholarship will be given to all minority students studying higher professional courses; besides for minority students from twelfth standard studying in any faculty. The Government’s order has been issued by its ‘Minority Development Department’ on the 24th of June 2022. A total provision of Rs 24.55 lakh was made for such scholarships during 2019 to 2022. The funds to the tune of Rs 24.20 crore will be given to the Directorate of Technical Education, while funds of Rs 35 lakhs will be handed over to Higher Education Department.

Editorial viewpoint

  • Why is such provision not been made for the majority Hindu students ? Isn’t it discrimination in education ? Why are the so-called communists, progressive factions, who are always talking about equality, keeping mum now ?
  • Isn’t making funds available only to minorities in the prevailing unstable political situation in the State, a kind of their appeasement ?
