New Delhi – After wheat exports were banned, the Government has now curbed the export of sugar. The Government has decided to allow the export of only 100 lakh metric tonnes of sugar to maintain the domestic availability and price stability in the country. From 1st June 2022 to 31st October 2022 or until further orders, the export of sugar has been banned by the Department of Food and Public Distribution. The Central Government is taking this step to maintain & regulate the price of sugar in the country.

The price of sugar in retail shops increased from Rs 36 to Rs 44
The wholesale price of sugar in the country has increased from 3,150 Rs to 3,500 Rs per Quintal. Due to this, the wholesale shops from various parts of the country have had to increase the price from Rs 36 to Rs 44 per kilogram.
