New Delhi – The Madarasas should cease to exist, said the Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in a programme in Delhi. He also said that General knowledge should be given more weightage in all the schools.
Sarma further said that so long as the Madarasas exist, students cannot even imagine becoming a doctors or engineers. Muslims should teach the Quran to their children, but at their homes. Admitting students to the Madarasas is a violation of their human rights. There should be stress on teaching science, maths, biology, botany, and zoology. Students in madarasas are extremely talented, they can memorise every word of the Quran easily. All Muslims were Hindus. No one was born a Muslim (in India). Everyone was a Hindu in India. So, if a Muslim child is extremely meritorious, I will give partial credit to his Hindu ancestors.

In 2020, the Assam Government decided to dissolve all Government-run madarasas and convert them into general educational institutions to facilitate a secular education system. The Guwahati Court is still firm on this decision of the Assam Government.
Editorial viewpoint
The CMs of other States under BJP rule should also take such a decision to achieve the development in its real sense. |
